Hi guys and gals. As many of you know (and many do not) I have been a science teacher in Los Angeles, CA for going on 11 years now. Not being the safest place we (employees) try to stay on top of what's going on in our surroundings. Today I received an email that had the following warnings in it from our local law enforcement agents. I will summarize as I do not think I can cut and paste their email to us...

(1) Baby Car Seat: A ploy being used at the moment is for gangs/thieves/etc... to place an empty baby car seat along the side of the road where drivers can see it. A blanket is being placed over it to hide the fact that it's really empty. When the concerned driver pulls over (usually a woman) they are raped, robbed, and left for dead. This has been mentioned as being a gang initiation in the area as well. :mad: :grumpy:

(2) Eggs: Another ploy is someone throwing eggs at your wind shield. Do not use wipers or windshield wiper fluid as this will cause the mess to become milky and to spread causing the driver to pull over to clean off their wind shield. Again becoming subject to rape/robbery/murder. :mad: :grumpy:

I wasn't sure where else to post this on Blade Forums and didn't feel like being dinged/warned for posting in the wrong area. However, since we have a pretty tight community here I felt it would be okay to warn my fello INFI addicts. :thumbup:

Keep going and call 911.

There are many tricks these dirt bags use but we were warned as of today that the 2 mentioned above are the 2 to really watch out for. This may not be only happening in Los Angeles so just be smart like always. It's just sick how these low life scum bags will take advantage of good people.
 
we've seen these types of emails for quite some time. the earliest one i can remember involved flashing headlights at a vehicle driving with theirs turned off. this provided the suspect vehicle a target to pursue and victimize, thereby completing an initiation process.

i don't know where these originate, or if any of the claims can be substantiated.

i can say that while gang hierarchy can be organized, even at the street level, this type of initiation process is unlikely.

but behind the warnings lies valid safety concerns.

don't make a habit of contacting people of questionable reliability. do your best to remain situationally aware and attempt to limit tunnel vision. yours and your family's safety has to come first, even over that of a baby left in a car seat on the sidewalk.

call 911, and let police and fire deal with what may come.

I remember the "headlight" rumor from way back.

I have never seen this but just another to add to "the list" just in case.
