Me and my good Friend Claude decided to take the hammer up the hill in sections. The old backhoe just aint what she used to be :)

The first piece up the hill was the anvil. I dont know what it weighs , but the old hoe grunted to lift it.

This is the hill up to the barn. The first 20 feet are the killer. It's right at 45 degrees. After that the next 150 feet are at between 35-40 degrees. Old hoe roared right on up and just bearly spun a tad at the top. But it made it. :)

Got the upper section unbolted and chained in ... yes those are knots in the chain. :o . Didnt have enough hooks. This piece was nothing compared to the anvil, but the bottom section is a honker. We may end up dragging it up on a sheet of 1/4" steel sheet.

Lord willing, we will get the last section up tomorrow, then the old hoe will get to shine doing the footing.

Knots in the chains, eh??? I see your acclimating to backcountry living quite nicely! ;)

Cool beans, Mark! Project's moving right along.

Backhoe is CHEATING!

I had to move my 50-pound LG, lying on its side (on a palette) across a motocross-track-style broken-asphalt driveway with a come-along and pipes!! That's 1,800 pounds of lovin', let me tell you! I did manage to invent a new standard of measure--EPI (expletives per linear inch).

Then I had to stand it up!--all alone with nothing but 2x4s! That'll clench your sphincter!
