Well I finaly got time to finish the puff and chop as it was dubbed on another forum .
The head was forged from wrought iron with a file bit in the wrapped method.
O.A.L.is 24 1/2" and the head is 7" tall with a 3 1/2" bit.
Cast in place pewter bands with pewter and antler mouthpiece.

Cheers Bob

Another beauty Robert, really do like the carving on the head.

I like it too, in fact I like the whole tomahawk!

I know this is probably like asking a trade secret  but how the heck do you do that, (the carviing I mean)?
It appears to stick out which to me says the metal around it was removed. How in the world do you smooth out that area around the carving and not destroy the carving! That looks like untold work too me but I like it!

Thanks guys!
Dixie
The carving was done with my dremel and a lot of carbide burrs. I found out that the silica which there is lots of in this wrought eats burrs:eek:. But once i started it there was no turning back. Then i smoothed it with the trusty files and sandpaper so no secret just a lot of hand work.

Actually Bob I had read your anwser to this on another forum. I am impressed as I can only imagine the work it took to get that image on the hawk! I have to give you a big  on that!

Actualy the image was very easy i drew it up then scanned it then sized it than opened it in m.s. paint and printed the image.
Than i cut it out and crazy glued it to the hawk and cut the material around it:p.

Yeah - It's all right. Started to work on the hawk head you gave me last time I visited; still have to HT it and etch it. The lilac piece you gave mee too made an awesome haft  Give me a shout when you're in the area :)
