Since I was featured in June's edition of Blade, people have been emailing me wanting a custom knife. Most of them I can handle, but I have a odd request. The client wants a Roman pugio style dagger. I haven't even made any form of daggers yet, but this on seems like it would be twice as hard to accomplish. The blade curves in towards the center of the blade near the ricoso on each side, I wouldn't know how to make the edge the same thickness because of this.

Look up on google for a image if you haven't heard of them, I need some pointers here and don't know where to start. I hope someone can help me out with this. Big thanks to anyone who can!!

Nothing making wise to add to this but there seems to be multiple designs for the things. Some look harder than others.
Doing a modernish interpretation of one where the bevels meet in a perfect line down the center would be hard but the traditional ones have a rib there and look a bit flat around the rib.

The rib would be harder than just having a centered grind line... but be more in line with the actual historical piece. If you don't forge, buy a thick piece of steel... 3/8" x 3" x "however long" and grind your butt off. Forging is an entire thread unto itself.

Would it be acceptable to tell the customer that you are not equipped*to make such a piece at this time? Then you would have some time to try it without the pressure of a customer and a deadline. Or talk him into a different style blade that you are more confident about making.

Never be afraid to say no, thank you.
You are never required to accept every commission.
