pull pin knife

A Schrade "pull pin" knife just sold on a certain auction site (for quite a nifty sum, by the way). How does this type of knife work? Thanks.

Is this also known as a Pull ball knife. If so then the blade usually has no nail nick, the ball at the back end of the knife is pulled back and the blade opens. Some early models can go for a nice sum.
