Have to agree w everyone here. My normal daily driver is a BM 885 or 886 designed by Allen Elishewitz, Unfortunately since that partnership ended, the 885 Darkstar or 886 Bluestar are both very rare, hard to find, and cost a bomb. Recently found a consignment of pre-production 885s (smaller one) which I adore and carry every day. Except that it's a crying shame that a limited edition serialed BM 885 Darkstar is an everyday carry. Hence, I shelled out 1/4 of the price and got a Leek. Frankly, I'm quite astounded by it's opening speed, lack of wobble, and overall heft. I've wanted one for ever, and finally got one a couple of weeks ago, and I can tell you, it gets absolutely the opposite reaction from the office. Before people just thought I was some psychotic a spearpoint in base of skull killer....well, maybe the Gerber Covert and my stories of Bragg didn't help..... Now THAT ONE I can tell you is indestructible. I throw my knives. Frequently. And the Gerber Covert is the only one that has yet to be broken. But now being an executive, in a design industry, it's becoming harder and harder to find a sleek executive spearpoint folder that will not freak people. So, after that slight detour, I am coming back to that fact that the Leek is amazing. BUT if you're looking for something that you can marvel at by sight alone, before you even get your mitts on it, check out the Eros. Also by Ken I believe. That's tour de force in intricate machining that, while may appear decorative, is all function driven.
Anyway, as it's been well over five years since my last sighting on this forum, I thought I'd do a little waffling. But to the point, no pun intended, you cannot go wrong w/ the Leek. It's less than half the cost of most others in my collection, and, for the limited couple weeks I've had it, continues to find it's way into my absent-minded tick when I'm thinking hard about something......I suddenly realize is'ts been in my hand for the last 5 minutes and I've just subconsciously been flicking it in, out, hand to hand stuff. it's exquisitely balanced. Haven't quite nailed myself yet, but it will happen. Part of getting intimately familiar with a blade.
Later peeps!
