After the thread I put up a little while ago to get suggestions for a barlow or gunstock to get as a gift for a friend of mine I decided to go with the GEC #25 barlow pattern.

Then the real hard work began as I had to pick among spear point or clip point, single or double bolsters, and handle material. I finally settled on a model with signature bolsters, clip point main blade, and red buffalo horn handles. Placed my order at Collectorknives.net and now just have to wait patiently. :D

Considering how much good stuff I've read about the knives just here at BF I'm excited to see one in person. I've got a feeling my friend will really like it when he gets it at Christmas.

Congratulations! I think you made a good decision, and hope that you will be happy with your new knife. I'm willing to bet that you will be. GEC is making some pretty amazing slipjoints. Their barlow is a real jewel of a little knife. The warning on collectorknives.net about the GEC's being addictive is no joke! Once you get one, you want more, and more!

Collectorknives.net is a great place to order from, I order from there pretty regularly. If you placed your order today, you should have your knife by early next week (Monday or Tuesday). Mike is great about shipping, he's one of the fastest dealers I've encountered.

When the knife arrives, please post pics and let us know what you think!

Hey - that's the exact one that I want - #25, long pull, clip point, red buffalo.

I hope they've got another one for me . . . ;)

I don't post here often, I'm more of a lurker...

I just wanted to say that I bought the very same knife a couple of days ago from collectorknives.net. I'd been looking at them for a while, but the gunstock/barlow thread finally did it for me. I placed my order on Sunday night and had it by Wednesday morning. That's pretty fast from OK to NY.

It's a beautiful knife. The springs are strong, but not nailbusters. Its a nice stout knife. Very compact and built like a tank. My scales are a bit darker than the one pictured online, but thats ok. I chose to go with a serialized knife, and got #47.

I plan on carrying it quite a bit. I don't have much experience with carbon blades, but I like the idea of "traditional" pocket knife.

I think your friend will really like the #25. I've only had mine for two days, and I love it! :D

TheMikeOfSteel - I'm glad you posted that. Just makes me feel that much better about my order. :)
