I was wondering if someone could help me out here. Does anyone know what steel Puma uses in their 4 Star Folder? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,
I think it is a 440 series. Maybe 440C.

I don't know for sure, but it seems that I always see Puma knives advertised using 440C.

According to the literature that I have from Puma, they use two different stainless steels, depending on the model, DIN 1.4110 and DIN 4116. 1.4110 is C 0.65%; Si 0.40%; Mn 0.50%; Cr 13-15%; Mo 0.45-0.60%. 4116 is C 0.50-0.55%; Si 1%; Mn 1%; Cr 13.80-15%; Mo 0.46-0.60%. I think the 4-star series uses DIN 1.4110. They may be using other steels now as well, the lit I have is a couple of years old. For the higher end knives they use hot-rolled steel and drop-forge the blades. If you ever see an older one in carbon steel, grab it, those are really good blades.
