Bought my first Puma, a used Hunter's Pal, and I've got a question for those of you who may be be farmiliar with the brand. On the right side of the blade, there is a tiny 'dimple', not very deep, almost looks like it was made with a very small center-punch. Could this be from testing the Rockwell hardness of the blade? Otherwise, the knife appears to be unused and unsharpened.

Thank You,
Jeff

It is a diamond hardness indentation. Tetragonal in shape. Put a magnifier on it and you will see the shape. Translates into Rockwell and other hardness scales.

Thank you, folks, for the fast, and expert, answer to my question. Think I'm gonna like it here!

What is the date code on your warranty card? Is it carbon or stainless steel?

It didn't come with a warranty card or box. It is stainless, and the number on the brass 'finger-guard' seems to indicate a 1997 mfg. date : 32791.
