I've only been on this Forum/Site for a short time and still have lot's of reading and research to do. I noticed there Is no Catagory for Puma Knives, So I picked this Forum because Puma's are Handmade, I noticed I aint seen no picture's or post about Puma Knives so I thought I would share some picture's of the two I have and consider "Very Nice Knives" Here's one I got not to long ago and Is In Like New Condition, Sure has a Great Factory Edge on It, Here's a few picture's of my "Puma Hunter's Companion" 4 1/4" Blade Germany Stainless 8 1/2" Total length,

Sorry, Pumas are factory knives.

I figured they was production, But they Do Say Handmade on the Blade, So are you saying Puma's claim to Handmade Is Incorect ? Well either way here's my Puma's ! Anyone have Puma Hunting knive's ? Let's see em !

I have the bowie, its a great knife but its too large for carrying in the bush so it barely gets any use. I still love it though. How the hell did you manage to keep yours so shiny? mine is practically black from the patina.

Ask Puma what they mean by handmade. Even custom knifemakers use machinery much of the time. But Puma knives are made in factories on an assembly line, so however much manual attention they get, they are still production knives.

And don't believe everything you read. "Handmade" is advertising.

You got that right, Puma Knives though well to me anyway have alway's seemed to be a step above most other Production Knives, There Quality I think Is second to none, And Better than most ! I like the Older Model's, But thank's for moveing my Post to the right section, I just figured I seen that Handmade well "I'll get It right one of these Day's" Take Care !

The recent down side to Puma is almost all their knives have been made in countries other than Germany for about ten plus years now. I have about ten Pumas in my collection 4 old and 6-7 new. You can see the difference. If it did not come in a soild plastic case then it may say made in Germany or just Germany but don't bet too much on it being true.....

I bought this back in the 60`s and its been dated to about 1945 47.But none of the guru`s have seen one with the Puma head.

Hello Richard, That Puma Is I would say a Rare One, When my Brother get's up I'll show It to him, I've never seen one with the Puma Head on It, Sure Is a "Beauty" ! Woo-Wee Your In Perth Australia, I want to say a Big Hello To ya from the State of Nebraska USA, Well We've been "Sold Out To China" But for now we'll call It the "MADE IN CHINA USA", Thank's for sharing the picture, Take Care !

I am betting that the selection of Sambar stag scales for their German-made blades 'qualifies' the 'Handmade' logo, as does the actual assembly of the German steel to the 'Made in Germany' part. As far as I can tell, many of the 'IP' variants of certain fixed blade types were made in Portugal, etc, as were many of the folding knives - but they clearly label those. below are my Puma German-made folders:

Below are my Pumas - and a pair of Bear MGC, made here in Alabama, in the middle. The White Hunter is a bit older - and they all appear to be of similar quality.

Hello Stainz, That's a "Beautiful Collection" Very Nice Folder's and Fixed Blade's are all "Beauty's" ! Great Knives, Thank's for sharing the picture's of your Puma Collection, Take Care !

This is my Puma Medici from 1978

The knife was never used for anything besides being pretty on display.
In one of the photo's you can see an indentation in the blade which is to show that it was Rockwell tested.
Lockup from the blade as well as the guard is perfect with no play whatsoever.
(Photo's are large,)

I can get a Good Deal on It, It belong's to my older Brother, and there aint no Sheath with It, Anyone have any Info. on this one, Are the Handle's Real Stag ? The Blade has some stains of some sort, But the Knife seem's to be In New Unused Condition,

Before Puma sold in the early 90's they made some of the best production knives in the world. They were expensive but worth it as the fit, finsh, and quality of materials was second to none. (the old knives that came in the green & yellow box are highly collectable and top shelf quality) Unfortunately, the quality has never been close to the same since they changed hands. About 6 or 7 years ago I bought a couple of the little four star folders and was shocked at the shoddy workmanship - lousy f & f, lousy dye job on the bone handles, and I've seen cheap chinese knives that held a better edge. I gave up on Puma after that.

Here's a link to good site with a lot of Puma info and some beautiful vintage Puma's for sale.
