Hi forums,

I was recently in a shop where they sell knives amongst others. I caught a glimps of a small folder that had a ceramic blade and carbon fiber handles.
I was already looking around for some nice ceramic blade with carbon fiber handles and I only found 2 of my liking, a colt and a böker anti-grav knife. However , I noticed the knife mentioned in the title and it appealed to me right away. The looks anyway...
I was wondering if some of you gus had any experience with the brand "Puma Tec" and what you guys think of ceramic blades for light edc-purposes.
The internet learns me that this brand has several ceramic blades, but it was a particular one that I don't really find asap on the web.

Here is one pic I found on the web:

So, in short: does anybody have any experience with the brand? Good/Bad? What about ceramics for light edc?

Thx!

Ceramic (or Puma's Keramik) is more of a novelty, than an actual EDC blade material. Don't get me wrong, it could serve well for normal EDC tasks, but eventually you're going to chip the edge, or worse yet, drop the knife and break it. If you don't mind the risk, go for it, but I seldom ever carry my Puma Keramik knife, and when I do, I treat it like it's made of glass, because... it is, essentially.

I had a friend who bought a knapped-flint blade for daily carry. He is of American Indian descent, and thought it would be cool to carry, but he handed it to a friend who promptly dropped it and broke it.

Ceramics can be cool, and serve as a great conversation starter, but it is quite delicate and the limitations need to be considered. I'd be more likely to keep one as a kitchen knife, than anything else.

Thank's for the heads-up! I might want to reconsider that purchase then. It might be a good office knife, perhaps? Opening letters and stuff. I don't think you'd want to prep any kind of meat that still has bone in it, since it chips so easily? So in the kitchen it would be exclusively for vegetables or fruit?
