I am having a replica White Hunter custom made.
The knife maker wants to use 0-1 steel. would this steel be stronger than Pumaster steel?
I want a super strong White Hunter.

If the maker knows what he's doing and heat treats the blade properly, you'll have a fine knife. O1, properly heat treated, is as good of a steel as just about anybody needs.

Yes he has a great reputation here in Australia.
I want the knife for some serious camp/survival use, so strenght is very important.

Properly heat treated 0-1 is a fantastic steel. It weill probably take an edge as easily as the old Pumaster steel, hold it longer, and take a crisper edge.

But the old Pumaster steel (the old carbon stuff) was no slouch as far as a blade steel goes.

Thanks guys.
I have two puma white hunters one pumaster and the other stainless. But i just a super strong anti-tank version.lol.
I just love that knife design. every time i open my knife draw and take one of them out i just get that felling.....
Keep the info comming guys
