I have a few Puma knives. I wanted one of their 'White Hunters' for quite a while, but they have always been quite pricey. Then, last month at our shooting club's fall swap meet, there it was - and at an affordable price. Of course, I was broke... and I agreed to look him up at the next gun show, which was last week end. I didn't have quite enough, going mostly for the 'ambience'... and a few military ammo boxes. I didn't think about that knife until the next AM when I wanted to return to the show (I am a member of the show's club, and re-entry is free - except for the parking!). She begged out, as she had really been sick with the sinus/allergy crud I had, and even missed church. I stayed with her - and cared for her - no return trip to the gun show - or that 'White Hunter' for me.

Last night, my asthma aggravating the allergy/sinus problems, I was miserable. My kind wife brought me a gift bag - with that White Hunter within! She had excused herself Saturday to make a restroom visit - and stopped by the friend's booth. He gave it to her and told her to put it down a pants leg, sheathed, of course, and to send him a check! Now I know why she walking funny to the car - and her favorite Mex eatery, actually Ecuadorian, my 'reward' for her accompanying me despite her illness. Two other positives about this - she didn't use my 'goodie' moola - and he charged her less than he quoted me! When he called yesterday to tell her he had received and cashed the check, which came from her sister-in-law (Great way to hide it's payment!) she decided to give it to me, instead of trying to hide it for Christmas.

Oh yeah, the knife... it's the 11-6375 'Handmade White Hunter - Germany' with the Sambar stag grip. It's not new - darkened Stag compared to my other Pumas. The brass handle rivet washers and through hole liner aren't bright, but the blade is VG++, as is the sheath. It was - like my beloved wife - a bargain. As I don't hunt, it will just be display piece - an interesting and sentimental one at that.

Great story Stainz - Enjoy the knife and thank your wife. She is a keeper :) As I am sure you know, the older Puma's are much better than the newer ones. 20 years ago, Puma was considered the Rolls Royce of production knives. You have a super knife in that white hunter. The blades were all forged back then. This is a great story. Thanks for sharing
Dave.

Great story. Your wife is a saint! I love my white hunter. Sometimes i take it out just to feel the great quality, i'm not really into using it much, it's an older model.

I had a Puma White Hunter many years ago, and they ARE an excellent knife, that feels GREAT in the hand. They also have an "interesting" blade-shape.

Proverbs 31:10 - 31 about has it covered.

Congratulations. My first fixed blade was a White Hunter about a gazillion years ago. I saved allowance and mucked stalls for a year to buy it. Still have it. Well used and shows it, but still in the original sheath.

well the knife may go but you'd better keep the wife. A friend of mine carried a white hunter through 2 tours in vietnam and swears by it. congratulations, great knife, great wife, if she'd have snuck off picked up a series 70 colt 45 you'd have the tri-fecta.
