Thanks. I ran out of time and put it on the steps like this. I under estimated how long it took to do one of these. I have about 6 hours wrapped up in this one.

I guess that's what made it fun for me to do. I never really expected it to make it through th night with all the pumkin smasher out and about.

Someone told me I should have it dipped so I could save it. There are a couple neat things I like about it but it really isn't that good. My wife made me think it was good enough, as most wives will do. I was disapointed it didn't quite come out the way I wanted, but it was a first attempted and I learned a lot.

I'll start earlier next year so i can spend more time on it.

Hi cultivateitnow -

Very cool - I have thought about doing the sculpted type of carving, but never have done one (just not that artistically inclined).

I do the stenciled "portrait" pumpkins, and that is about as far as I go with it -

Here is one of my oldest granddaughter I made for this year - I had her make a "scary face" for the pattern:

Here is one I did of one of a couple who are good friends back in 2004-

Thanks for posting your carving - you may inspire me to do something more next year.

BTW - how did your's look illuminated?

best regards -

We all did stenciled pumpkins last year and the year before. I seen some pictures of carved pumpkins and thought I would give it a try. Lighting wasn't to bad. The mouth, nose and eyes go clear through and the toung, teeth as well as arounf the eyes are relieved and all but free floating. I was afraid I was going to cut them clear off. The creases in th face go almost all the way through so you can see the light thru them. A couple areas could have been thinned a bit more but I ran out of time. All in all it wasn't too bad.

WOW.

Now I will be far less proud to post my humble works.

But what the hell!
