I think this is the only one I have presently...from Ontario/RAT (Queen), 4 1/4" closed, D2 blades.

Unfortunately the light reflected off the snow outside wreaked a bit of havoc with the exposure so I included a couple of older images to give a better idea of the character of the sheep horn scales...:

The punch has myriad uses really. You can use it to start a hole in leather (as mentioned above), it can be used while whittling for boring holes (as in making a flute or whistle).
Many use it as a scraper for a fire steel...Can puncture cans in an emergency, serve as a pipe reamer, etc, etc, etc

Really only limited by your imagination.

Very nice! A little off topic, but, I've wondered what people actually use punch blades for?
Paul

Lose/gain a few pounds and need another notch in your leather belt? Whip out the punch blade!

Of course there are numerous other uses for it, but that's about the extent of my experience with a punch blade...

Yup, that's pretty much what mine get used for. :D

Was your Ontario/Rat made by Queen?

Yes. Sorry, I just took it for granted that everyone was familiar with that association.

I'll amend my post above.:thumbup:

Nothing to be sorry about. I guessed Queen because of the D2.
(it's a nice specimen)

Great RAT Stockman Blues.I didnt know there was such a thing.Love the sheephorn!

Thank you, sir. It was the first of the breed back when my friends Jeff Randall & Mike Perrin still had an ongoing association with Ontario.
The following knife was the sheep horn scaled railsplitter (surveyor) pattern stock/cattle knife, also in D2 but with a spey blade in place of the punch.

Thanks for the answers guys.

Guess I've got a pretty limited imagination.:D

I traded mine. Should have just kept it. Another good knife gotten rid of for all the wrong reasons. Queen did a very good job on these.

Buck (Camillus contracted) had two models both discontinued. The 319 Rancher came first with a spiral carbon steel awl and later a smooth SS awl. Spiral 1975 - 90. Smooth 1990 - 92. Still available with a little search. Blade steel likely Camillus heat treated 440a. Scales sawcut Delrin, nicklesilver bolsters, brass liners and SS pins. Both knives were basically the 301 Stockman with a awl in place of a sheepsfoot blade. You will find a few oddballs with 301 blades in place of 319 marked blades and vice-a-versa. Small nail nic on later model. 300Bucks/ch

I was hoping you would show those 300Bucks.Thanks!I always liked that spiral punch blade. And it would really dig in and go too.

300Bucks I really like that spiral punch. Never have seen one in person. Do you knoe the purpose of it?

Spiral punch is just a another version of a leather punch. Sort of saw teeth effect. I am not a horseman nor plow with mules, so my leather working is limited to sheaths and belts. I have used the smooth awl with effect, the only thing I can tell you about the spiral awl is it will corrode, being of carbon steel, if not properly cared for. I have a couple of them that look like they have had heck....but maybe just were put up and forgotten about after rough use.
