Purchase blade without baked-on coating?

Coating with oil only would be nice. They should offer a uncoated version to people like us. Hehe

I don't think they want to put the time into finishing an uncoated blade. It's quicker, and cheaper to just sandblast, and coat them. Plus, they don't want products to rust in box. So, I don't think they'll take any chances.

I sell them stripped and even Parkerized for guys who want that.

The new BK-32 is a BK-2 with a clear coat on it. That is a step in the right direction for Ka-Bar. I am very interested to get my hands on one when it is released.

And I have to agree, I do not like the coating on the blade at all. Under the handle scales though.......... absoulty!

Speaking of that, Dex... here's one of Tyler as we wrap up shooting on the video review of your COBLE Beckers

Knives roll down the assembly line, and painting them is part of the process.

As of now, its up to the end user to remove the paint........by use or other means.

Been playing with the BK-32 for a month or so and it's a whole new world. Slicker than a stripped blade. Amazing cutter.

Hmmmm, some sorta baked on clear coat? Now there's a new mod! Does it seem to wear off if any sort? Any scratches or anything as you can tell?

Same coating that's on it now just sans black dye.

Yeah I wouldn't think it's naturally clear and just added black. Prob some sewage color. I like that there's apparently no extra effort taken to polish the steel. Looks just like a stripped blade. I like the look of the grind marks and such. Thanks for sharing that!

I actually like the machine marks and the flats look stone washed. I think the clear coat fills those machining marks and gives it the slick feel that makes such a difference. When they are available, snag one and check it out. I'm a fan.

I like Parkerized too though.....:D

It's all about the choices.

Where can I find these options on your website? This is an awesome service...

I am in the process of updating my website to offer these services. Should be done real soon.

Right now just send me an email if you are interested and I will see what I can do for you.

Just got my first parked blade in last week (not a BK&T, I'm not a "one brand" kind of guy....more of a good quality and "I like that" sort). I have to say it's nice. Looks kind of "raw" but I don't mind that in the least.

Planning on stripping the coating off of my BK-15 when I get the motivation and time to do so.
