I have many Chris Reeve Knives.

Lately I have purchased a few PM2's.

I now want a classic Spyderco like the Delica. I am confused as to what is the difference between the Delica, Delica 4, Delica 4 FFG, Plain Ground??? Seems that there are so many choices. It may help if I let you guys know I just want it for office work: boxes, envelopes, paper - nothing extreme.

Thank you,
Howard

There are a few generations of Delicas. See this post on the Spyderco forums for pictures of the different designs for each generation of Delica. "Delica4" refers to the 4th (current) generation of Delicas. FFG just refers to the grind (full flat grind), versus saber grind (as pictured in that post linked above). The handle texture and clip style has changed from generation to generation. The tip of the Delica4 is also slightly different (almost looks like a very slight sheepsfoot shape towards the tip).

The Delica is a great EDC sized knife. Recently I've decided that right around 3" blades are just about perfect for my taste.

Thanks for the replies. So for what I am going to use the knife for as an EDC should I go for a full flat ground (ffg)?

So I should look for C11F as pictured below....

For EDC the full flat ground is a good choice. You will be amazed at the "pocket friendly" nature of the design...and how well the full flat grind slices. As long as you don't make a regular habit of prying and twisting with the blade you will find the knife plenty robust for EDC cutting chores. Now to make up your mind what color to choose !

OK, so i ordered five Delica 4's: blue, green, orange, purple and brown. I will have them tomorrow. I am very excited. Thanks for all your help guys!

Can't go wrong with the FFG I had the delica 4 in FFG and a hollow grind , The hollow grind has a thicker blade stock on it , but for EDC type chores I prefer the FFG any day of the week, You will be impressed with these little knives they really are a great value.
