Perhaps SRM's most popular knife. I purchased this as a gift for someone; I didn't want to spend much on a knife I figure will be stuck in a drawer somewhere for the rest of its life. It cost me under $13 including shipping from China.

When it arrived a couple weeks later, I saw the packaging could be easily opened without cutting or ripping anything, and I wanted to inspect the knife before giving it away... well, it was very nice... camouflage coating on the handle, black on the blade, quite sharp, but the pivot seemed too tight. It also had a very strong detent holding the blade in place; I was unable to flick it out using inertia alone. Nice gimping, too... although I don't "get" gimping, but it does give some purchase.

Anyways I tried flicking out the blade instead of slowly pushing it open, whole nuther story... when I pushed it open, it didn't seem completely smooth (as to be expected on a 6 dollar knife) and I suspected the pivot was too tight, and was about to get a hex driver to loosen it off... when I flicked it, the strong detent allowed me to build up energy and the blade flew out super fast, faster than the couple flippers I have had, almost auto-like speed.

It's so much fun flicking it out that I decided to keep it and bought another one to give away. :o

Ni pics atm because I can't find my camera.VERY nice for 6 bucks, though. Full hex screw construction. I love flicking it out, makes a great click when I do that as well. This would be a fun knife to modify, witness the following pics: (not mine)

The one minor complaint is that the clip moves slightly if you grip the knife very tightly.

I have had a SRM 710 for about 2 years now. For the money its alright. The hardware is weak, and rounds easiely, and the pocketclip is weak. Also on mine the blade isn`t centered at all, and adjusting the pivot doesn`t help. I don`t like the nylon washer on one side either. I have stonewashed mine, some of the customized models look great.

For the money it`s definately worth checking out.

I've found this to be the weekest link with most of the low end imports. No matter how good the blade steel is ( or isn't), the hardware is usually junk. I've seen stop pins so soft they start to deform.

Well I paid $6 for it, so I've already got my money's worth from two days of flicking it :P Cost less than a 6 inch Sub and a cookie...

Well yeah it's cheap entertainment , cheaper than a movie. :)

How's the stop pin holding up after flicking it open? That's usually the problem I've had with the cheap knives.

I've got a few SRM type folders with an Axis lock, they look like a Microtech Kestrel mated with a Benchmade knife. Nice design but the hardware is real soft. I would never trust the lock.

I bought an inexpensive Kershaw frame lock ( Vapor II ) , it's one of their imports. I paid $10 for it on sale. Very high quality, flicks open with a little push on the thumbstud, it can entertain and be used with confidence as a cutting tool.

I have a SRM 738 and a Bee L02.... have flicked them open hundreds of times.... no problems with the stop pin on either.

I have a bunch of srm 710 new in box that I bought to give as gifts.
I might look for my extras and list a few for sale here so people don't have to
wait a month for china shipping. I think its a good value for under $12

Early SRM adopter and owner of several different models. Absolutely no issues at all. Some I simply like better than others. Flickable models like thew 710 always seem a bit stiff out of the box, and break in within a couple days at most.

You know, I was pleasantly surprised with mine. It was the only knife cheap enough (and that made me curious enough) for me to destructively test.

I beat on it, threw with it, pried with it, and it held up surprisingly well. After a while, the liner traveled all the way to the end and there was irreparable side to side play.

Then I took it and wedged it into some wood and pried with it really hard. The blade snapped about an inch from the tip. I took the remainder in and snapped it again another inch down. Then I repeated and snapped it about half an inch down. Now it is a boxcutter :D

So what is up with the camo? is that a new thing they are offering?
