Hi there, this is my first post on Blade Forums as well as in the ESEE sub-forum. I wanted to introduce myself and also share with other enthusiasts of dangerous things that I am anxiously awaiting my first ESEE knives
.
For the last couple of months I've really been feeling the itch to clearly define a survival kit in case of emergency. I've read articles about Bug-Out Bags, Get Home Bags, Car kits, house kits, keep-it-on-you kits... it was all a little daunting (and still is frankly). But one thing stuck out to me as common among all the various kits, the need for a quality fixed blade.
Now, I've always been a big blade fan but since I live in an urban environment, I felt the need to be... modest... in the size of blade I chose (as much as I wanted justify a Junglas as my first ESEE Knife I just couldn't). With that in mind I did ALOT of research on survival blades and after much thought settled on an ESEE-5.
Now my wife has a minor fear of bladed objects since as a child her mother was mugged at knife point but she also sees the value of learning how to use a knife in a survival (non-combat) situation. In an effort to minimize her discomfort in learning to appreciate quality blades, I have also ordered her an Izula II.
So, after talking with the dealer yesterday, I found that these knives should be shipping to me today and I am really looking forward to handling them for the first time.
I just had to share my excitement. I've been lurking here for a bit and eventually registered after I placed my order for the knives. I hope to contribute to the community and look forward to taking part in some of the discussions that take place here in the ESEE forum.
Thank you guys (and gals) for sharing your knowledge. As a new member I really appreciate the brutal honesty that I have seen in all the posts I've read to date.
