I purchased a SOG Flash II and like it very much because of the dual opening nature opens with either hand as opposed to Kershaw. I have only one fear about the using knife and that is the strength of the handle. This knife is sometimes carried for self-defense and I may have to slash or even stab with it but I worry about the handle breaking. I carry a knife when I cannot carry a handgun (I have a CCH license). Also I have taken self defense courses in the use of a knife for self defense. I have been assaulted once by two men half my age and robbed once ten years earlier. I was armed with a firearm each time. ( lucky me). My main concern is the sturdiness of the knife. I am not one to fight it out to the bitter end but to run like hell when the chance presents itself. Will this knife stand up to this use? Ohterwise it is light, fast, and feels good in my hand. It also doesn't show in my pants pocket when I carry it.

I have a Flash II and have carried it for about a year now, love it !
I don't think you could break the handle if you stood on it ! I just don't think you need to worry about the handle breaking, I have never heard of one breaking, and I have talked to many people that own them. The handle material is Zytel, supposed to be reinforced with fiberglass, not sure of the make up, but just don't think you will break it under normal use.
I think the blade or pivot would fail before the handles would, but I think this would be about the same with most of the knives made with that type material. I tried to squeeze mine as hard as I can before, and really did not notice any give from the handles. This is my 2 cents worth :D .
