Pretty sure you gotta send it in unfortunately.
I wouldn't be surprised if they will sell a 25 pivot. I believe that they want the 21 back because the pivot actually needs to be fitted to accommodate the washers. As Pat said, give them a call.
That would be unfortunate! Would not want to wait a couple months to do the same thing I do everytime I take my Seb down. Alas it is the will of the Reeves!
That's what I was thinking. With a 21 you have the fitted bushing, the 25 is just the male and female screws. I emailed them earlier today but realized they are closed on Friday. I came here hoping I could catch someone that had purchased a set before.![]()
What do you do every time you take your seb down that requires a new pivot?
What I meant was if they could send me a new pivot, I would do a normal take down and just swap the new pivot for the old one. Which would literally take 5 minutes (plus the week or so for shipping). Contrast that against a couple month wait for the folks at CRK to do the same thing.
I sent a 25 in some months ago, requesting an entire makeover - all new hardware, tumbled blade, etc.. And they returned my original hardware with the contents. I had heat anodized the screws & pivot to a golden bronze, which lost some color due to wear. It would be quite easy to polish it back to original - chuck it in a drill and spin into some super fine sandpaper. Heck I could do it if you're interested. And you could have this next week instead of 2 months.. Holler at me..
Yeah, but the question was: "What do you do.....that requires a new pivot?"
You seem to be evading the question that is on several people's mind.
Why do you need a new pivot?
As most of us can attest, these things last a VERY long time....I have seen knives with several thousand (perhaps tens of thousands) days of carry and use that did not require a pivot. So it seems like a request that is not heard often...and some of us are curious.
I just received a 25 on trade and upon arrival it had the head of the pivot screw about 90% stripped out and the head of the stop pin screw is 100% completely stripped out. This was due from over tightening. The blade would barely open and close. Apparently using an allen wrench is well beyond some people's capability, which makes me wonder if they should be allowed to handle knives.
