Hey all, new here so please let me know if this needs to be moved...
Anyways, I got a Target gift card for Christmas and of course scampered off to check on their knife section.
What I found out is that I don't have a whole ton of options. The only brands they have are Gerber, Rapala, SOG, Leatherman, and Victorinox.
I would never buy a Gerber, have no need for a Rapala, and I have my fair share of Swiss Army knives already, so what I've narrowed it down to is:
SOG Flash II ($38)
SOG Aegis ($50)
SOG Vulcan Mini ($82)
Leatherman Skeletool ($38)
Leatherman Wave ($80)
I have $100 to work with but that has to include shipping and sales tax. Lemme know what you guys think, thanks!

The sog vulcan is a good knife. I have the full size version and my dad uses one all the time. You also can't go wrong with a leatherman. I don't have any personsl experience with the other sogs you listed but have heard that the lower end sog offerings have something to be desired in the qc department. The leatherman wave is a good choice and I can say from personal experience that they will hold up to longterm use.

Leatherman Wave. I had one and really liked it because it was a little smaller closed than some of the other choices, and it has anice selection of tools, along with a good blade of decent steel.

Btw, big welcome to BF!! Glad to have ya':D

From those, I'd get the SOG Vulcan. I was kind of disappointed with the quality of the Leatherman Wave, especially for the price.

I wasn't sure exactly what to think of those low end SOGs so thanks for leading me away from those. Chances are I'll end up getting the Vulcan. I already have a Leatherman Sidekick and don't carry it much. Besides, I love Axis-type locks and it'll be nice to get one with a flipper!

Skeletool + Sog Aegis

$88 before tax and shipping should put it right close to the $100 mark. you get a knife and a very usefull backup tool

Leatherman Wave is a great tool system, but doesn't give the emotional satisfaction of an individual knife. If the others don't please you enough, then spend the Target gift on everyday stuff, so you can save money for better cutlery satisfaction. Just my $0.02.
