I'm having a hard time finding a supplier for pure nickel at the moment. Or at least 200 grade nickel thats fine it just needs to be something that is almost all nickel.

The reason I'm having a bit of trouble is because I ideally want it to be around 1mm thick. And i just havent had much luck on google.

Mcmaster-carr seems to just have stuff like inconel, and I have found it at one place but the size is pretty small. The only other place I saw selling it was asking an unreasobably high ammount of money for what they were selling. Other than that it seems like a lot of dead ends.

Any help would be appreciated.

Check Kelly Cupples (High Temp Tools and Refractory) used to be who I got it from. I checked and they don't list it. I used it to make a faux-hamon on swords and knives.

Jantz has it.

Ask Larrin and Devin. They will know who has it now. They also might have contact info on Kelly Cupples.

Looked at jantz before the post it looked like they were out of the sizes I was wanting. I think they have super thin sheet which is the main thing I can find.

What I really want is about 1mm. So I can use it for mokume. I like the nickle to be a little thicker than the copper. Gives a nice look in the end.

I could maybe try just using rolls of quarters. I havent actually added up if that would be cheaper or not. Might be actually. And for sure easier to get.

Its been awhile since I did the math but it used to be cheaper to use quarters than buying sheet. At least when buying 6 x 12 sheets. $8 worth of quarters will make a nice size piece of Mokume. And you get to enjoy the bizarre looks people give you when you tell them it was made from quarters...

1mm is .040". That is what Jantz carries. Call them and see what is in stock. Sometimes the website does not have accurate stock updates.
I saw that Maritime has it, but they are in Nova Scotia.

Did you do a search? I found it at Online Metals, eBay, Amazon, and many other places.

If the concern about MKS being in Nova Scotia is the cost of shipping, I don't think it should be too bad for something as thin as nickel sheet. Also the nickel sheet McMaster sells is *crazy* expensive. $160 for a 6x12" sheet of .019"? No thank you.

I ordered a few items from MKS. The shipping was reasonable and seemed to originate in the US, so I think they have the US sales side figured out. They've got some old wrought iron for sale right now...

Their wrought iron is great, he gets it from New England School of Metalwork. Nice grain, comes in good thick sizes too.

Why do you want nickel and not nickel silver?

Hoss
I have had some issues trying with nickel silver. Trying to get good welds. Mostly the margin between forge welding temp and melting gets a lot lower. And I do tend to go a bit hot.

Especially since i have taken to wraping the bits I'm trying to weld in stainless foil. I get a cleaner billet than trying to use wire, keeps oxidation low, and holds the pieces together nicely. If i had a tig torch I would probably just use that. But i dont.

Also the brighter color of normal nickel is nice

I believe online metals was the one that had completely absurd prices.

Amazon only has 100mm by 100mm pieced which is what i have bought before. But it seems like they dont keep that much in stock. Because last time I bought everything they had. Which was 3 pieces or something.

Ebay. Idk. I cant remember. I may have mostly seen the same super thin stuff I saw on amazon, and assumed I wasn't going to find it. But I cant remember if I really searched further.
