Ok, This is a mythical knife to me. In many people's mind it represents the currently available, stripped to bare essentials, "Standard Sebenza", with the 25 being a more specialized hard-use sort of offering. The silver thumb-studs on a 21 are considered an option to most, and the dual thumb-studs are an upgrade on the 21, as are graphics and inlays. I would also argue the small size is an option of sorts, as of course is the Insingo or Tanto blade shapes. Most websites have this knife I have described listed or in stock, but you almost never see it on the forums.

With most CRK guys on the forum seeming to have some sort of "special" CRK as their carry or EDC, with one of the upgrade features listed, I begin to wonder if the standard-blade large 21, plain-jane, with single blue thumbstud is not one of the more rare CRKs?

I don't own one of these, but am thinking more and more that I might want to pick one up. Who has a Vanilla Sebenza out there?

As clean as a knife can be.

I just scored one off of a BF member. I had a small plain Jane that I carried every day but I polished the front scale, then anodized it, and took my first opportunity to get a large plain Jane to replace it. I will probably leave this one alone or maybe anodize it way down the road. I was really missing the bead blasted finish, and decided I need a large. I'm excited to see how it compares to carrying a small.

In regards to seeing it less. I've personally noted no shortage of them but, if there is one, it's because it's "just an ole plain Jane" basically. I know when I got my small plain, I was afraid to share pics because everyone else has seen standards countless times, or they have at least one in their possession. It's like when you're talking about a car on a car forum, and yours is stock, and everyone else is modified. What would anyone find interesting about looking at the standard version of something they have, when there are so many unique variants out there? This could be a mentality that deters people from sharing their plain Jane, blue, single studs. Just my thoughts...

You might be onto something Harris. Maybe this thread will encourage some photos to appear of these knives.

I'll at least post mine tomorrow after work. You'll see it in the scenery thread quite often too. I never camp without a Sebenza 21.

I have a large LH 21 with double lugs, which is pretty close to what you mentioned. It's a great general folder.

Both mine are plain Jane, single blue lug. I personally prefer the single lug on the Sebenza. Beautiful, functional simplicity at its finest. I've handled plenty of unique and inlayed Sebenzas, but although nice, just not something I'd ever carry and use. Plain for me, all the way.

Post doubled when I edited it...weird. Seems to be happening a lot lately.

Large 21 plain in my pocket all day…. Got a LG BG-42 cleaned , lubed, sharpened in my pocket now…. Love the plains….

One of my most carried Sebenzas is a Plain Jane Lg 21 from 09. Love the heavy stonewash on the blade.

Yup. The plain Sebenza is the best version to carry IMO. The inlayed and graphic Sebenzas are nice but I'm afraid to mess them up. It doesn't really matter what you do with a plain Sebenza.

I haven't carried anything besides my plain lg. 21 since I got it. I love it. I've gone back and forth on whether or not I want a graphic or in lay one, and while they look fancy and what not, I'm perfectly pleased with the plain.

I love how... Plain... The plain one is, it's beauty is in it's simplicity.

Although, I'm finding myself more and more drawn to different configurations these days.
