Purple Case Knife?

Hello all,

One of my good friends asked me to sharpen a knife for him, this happens pretty often at work since everyone carries a knife and no one but me has any stones. So I said sure, he hands me the knife and its something rather out of the ordinary. Its a purple case knife. I've seen a few jigged bone versions but this one reminds me a lot of camel or giraffe bone, its smooth and its well... purple. I tried a couple quick searches on google but couldn't find anything like it. Any of you know anything about it?

That's a Case Wharncliffe Trapper (wharncliffe blade in place of the more standard spey). What's it's overall length? I'm guessing that's a Mini (~ 3.5"); Tiny Trappers are smaller yet.

The covers are regular cattle bone, with the variation due to either an inconsistent dye job (end of the run) and/or discrepancies within the bone that caused the dye to absorb inconsistently.

Here are another member's:

Here's a shot of the two ultraviolet smooth bone wharncliffe trappers I have. Covers are an ugly color, but the knives are great.

Its not small by any stretch its 4 1/8 closed and 7 3/8 open. Is this knife discontinued? I would actually really like one for myself.

Ah, a full-sized trapper then.

As for availability, yes, this knife is discontinued, so you'll have to hunt. Search for Case Ultra Violet Smooth Bone Wharncliffe Trapper, or (should that fail) creative combinations of the same, "purple," etc.

Good luck!

I have the whole line up but mine are limited edition ones. 1 out of 3,000. they came in a bunch of colors every year.

Try knifeswapper's website: collectorknives.net. I saw some listed there at one time.

I like the pattern a great deal. Those are my ultraviolet ones Sarah posted above.

I just saw a few of those, in different colors on an auction site last night...

You might find some around the net if you look for "periwinkle". Not sure this is exactly what you are looking for but the periwinkle were a purplish color. I think they were a limited edition too.
