Last year my wife and children gave me a Buck 503 Prince for Father's Day. This year they gave me a 503 Prince with the Purple handles. I like Father's Day or any day I get a new Buck knife. We have just built a new church sanctuary and it has royal purple carpet. They thought it would be neat if I could carry a purple knife. My questions are simply, what are the handles made of and are they durable enough for a knife to carry? I usually carry my 503 as a dress knife and my 303, 301, 310, 309, 703, 701, 175, Mini Protege as my daily users. It is hard to decide which one to carry because I enjoy them all. By the way, I noticed the 700 series missing from the new catalog. Is this a discontinued series? Thanks in advance for any replys and help. :p :)

Russell,
I know another club member that likes purple handles on knives. They found a lite purple colored wood last year and a darker purple synthetic at this years Blade Show. I do not know what either material is unfortunately. I would think that either material would be durable for EDC.

Thanks Joe for the response. I know that whatever material it is it will be of the highest quality being from Buck.
