Push Dagger

I've been searching for a push dagger to add to my collection. I prefer carbon steel and not stainless since I take care of my blades regularly. The style I currently prefer is the Tops Grim Ripper style.

Problem is I'd normally go fishing in EBay by myself but EBay seems to have prohibited push daggers?!? I'm running low on choices.

Please recommend me decent push daggers or any style and preferably not custom.

Also are push dagger type blades good for SD?

Push daggers are probably the most effective of any intuitive weapons. Just throw a punch. :)
I wish I could get away with carrying one. The Com-Tech Stinger is a good trainer for the push dagger.

I have a grim ripper, its a wonderfully made piece, but I think its a bit on the heavy side. That whole handle is solid and thick. And its more of a push knife then a true dagger.

I'd say a push knife/dagger would be a effective self defense knife, the design and grip would turn a normal punch into a vicious stab.

They aren't legal to have everywhere, of course, but if its a collection piece, I'd say the grim ripper is likely the best production push knife made, mostly because few companies make em.

Mine is AUS8, but still plenty good n nasty. Cold Steel Urban Pal... Old School.

If i buy some more leather, I can prolly make you one... minus the CS logo.

Does anyone other than me think that push daggers would 'turn' if you punched into something hard? I have several but would be reluctant to use them for anything other than a really, REALLY last resort, praying more for the scare than the cut. I have one that fills my hand quite well, is double edged with a well designed diamond shaped tip, but even that seems as if it would turn... Lower abdomen, neck, arms and legs, seem to me to be the only real targets without too much to get in the way of the point.

MMHW has a HUGE push dagger out of carbon steel.
I believe it was 7 inches.Expensive.

For practical use the big cold steel is hard to beat.I understand they're going to bring them back this year.
Under 50.00.I'd pay more if it came with a better sheath.

Thanks guys. I'm liking the Grim Ripper more and more now. Instinctive as throwing a punch sounds nice. To be frank I throw a really good punch so would my large power turn on me? As in the push dagger turning on me as Stichawl said?

I saw the MMHW version. Looking for something more covert than Klingon looking :) Though I love everything that MMHW produces. I'm actually building up my own little collection. One of the double edged camp knife is sleeping with me every night :)

Grim Ripper I think is next in my "to buy" list. Though going for 135 buck on EBay, is there cheaper ones elsewhere? Anyforumite wanna dispose of his/hers? :)

I would think if you ever used one in anger you would need to tape up your butt, because you would end up in goal

push daggers are pretty secure in the hand.
best part is one doesn't loose a push dagger if your fingers loosen up on the grip as the fingers can still balance and hold it up; also it stays exactly in place for having been securely placed between the fingers.
if the scales on the T-handle doesn't have enough "body/bulk" than it becomes probable that a thin profiled handle might hurt quite a bit on application and upon hard impact.

anybody has a picture of the retention system of the old school urban pal leather sheath ?
(not the keychain version ..:D)

Are you talking about the one I posted earlier?

I think the same holds true no matter WHAT weapon you use, if you use it in anger, whether it be a push dagger, a knife, a baseball bat, a gun, a lug wrench, a screwdriver, a beer bottle, whatever.

Deadly force is deadly force. If you're justified, it doesn't matter what you use. Every state law I have ever seen says "deadly force", not "deadly force with a gun" or "deadly force with a knife, but not a push dagger", etc.

Just make sure the weapon you choose to carry is legal wherever you happen to be, and make sure that if you ever use it you're justified.
