Happy Thanksgiving To all, What I like about knife making is being able to do different things. Here is a push dagger that I just cleaned the patina making crud off this morning. I haven't decided if I want to call it complete yet or not but, I really like what's going on so far.

The blade is double edged flat ground O-1. Patina was done with a 24 hour soak of cold blue and mustard. Blade measures 2 X 4.

Handle is Pa. white tail deer crown taken by my father in 1978. Fittings are cast pewter textured to resemble fur that is bound with a cord with two feathers.

OAL dimensions are 6 inches long, (handle, 5 inches wide.)

Thanks for looking

Robert, you are SO diverse and talented. Very cool.

Best,

What a combination of material, textures, colors, and imagination. I'll bet you had fun with this one. I think it's great.

It appears to be missing something to my eye.............

Oh, that's right that needs to be in a sheath on my belt!!!!!

Very cool, thanks for sharing now I know what to do with those blacktail spike sheds I find in my hay field. Going to have to give this a try soon.

Thanks all for the kind comments. I'm a little excitable and posted this before the sheath work was done. I'm thinking something rawhide, I just don't have that thought out yet. More to come, Thanks again.

might be interesting thought to continue the pewter work onto the sheath so it has continuation from one to the other but it truely is a beutiful work of art you have done.

just out of curiosity how is the bade attached to the handles

VERY cool Robert! Creative design and I like the way you utilized the stag in a symmetrical design.

The tang on the dagger was drilled and threaded to 5/16ths-18. I twisted the tang 1/2 turn and soldered the treaded rod in the tang. The antler is held to the tang by threading and polyurethane adhesive. the pewter was cast over tang, threaded stock and antler and there you have it.
