Push Daggers

Cold Steel makes some sweet little push daggers, and I just wondered what the law has to say about them. I spend time in Wyoming and California, so I need to make sure what the law says.
Also, is carrying a knife on your belt under a shirt considered concealed carry? I never tuck in my shirt, so I need to know.

Thanks

California, big no, no!

That is not correct.

Per CPC12020 fixed bladed knives (in any configuration) are legal to carry. They must however be openly carried in plain view.

A item is considered concealed if a normal person of average intelegence would not be able to see of identify the item. So in a pocket would be illegal.

Some of the Cold Steel Push Daggers are sharpened on both sides from the point towards the tang.

Sharpened on both sides like that = a true "dagger" as defined by many (if not most) states, and which is illegal to carry in those states.

And it's not easy to persuade a LEO that it isn't a dagger when it so obviously is what it is.

Didn't know that. OK, it's considered a fixed blade here. Now I know. And knowing is half the battle. Thanks.

Thanks for all the replies.
I got the Cold Steel Safe Keeper III, the only single edge push dagger that Cold Steel has produced (recently.) They are discontinuing it, however, so anyone who wants one should order it now. Both of their new push daggers are double edged. The Safe Keeper III also has a blade under 3 inches, so it is legal almost everywhere (if it is not concealed.) I like push daggers because they are small, yet effective. The Safe Keeper III comes with a "Secure-Ex" plastic sheath that holds the knife in place. After playing around with it, I found that putting it upside down on my belt worked really well. I can pull it out very quickly, but it is less obvious when you draw it because you draw down. (BTW, Cold Steel's Secure-Ex sheaths work a lot better after they are broken in.)

Good night all.
