Has anyone managed to attach a pocket clip to one of the TOPS CQT folders?
I know I saw a post from someone saying they were going to do it, but I do not know who it was, or if they managed to actually do it or not.

mikemck,

I 've had a Tops CQT Magnum folder for several weeks. I carry it on my belt in the Tops Kydex Sheath.

This is one MASSIVE folder. It has to be one of the strongest folders on the market. I don't see any way anyone could break it using it as a knife.

For such a large knife, it really handles well. I really like the balance and the traction coating on the knife and the handle.

I 've tried carrying it in my pocket but it was just too big and heavy.

I'm sure someone can make a clip for this knife. I just can't imagine using it.

Good Luck.

Bob,

I have the cordura, which I usually prefer over kydex, but it does not provide a snug enough fit really, so it's a bit more bulky than it needs to be.
How does that kydex sheath work out? Do you happen to have any pics you could upload or email me? Maybe some with it in the sheath, and some with it in the sheath attached to a belt?

I'm also thinking maybe a nice custom leather sheath, from Gary, might work well also.

Honestly, I am also not to sure about mounting a pocket clip, because it really does seem like it would not work very well on the CQT, but I just don't like the cordura so I'm exploring options...

mikemck: I have had a Tops Magnum for a few years (one of the early ones). I always carried it in one of Tops' nylon sheaths. However I recently had Gary Graley make me a molded black leather sheath for it and the result is really nice. The knife fits vertically, and snaps firmly into place. Contact Gary if you want a nice new way to carry your Magnum.

A pocket clip does sound like a good idea for carrying in a front coat pocket for easy access.

I was going to try to put a pocket clip on the TOPS Magnum. However, when the knife came in I was not been pleased with it because it's hard to open using the thumb disk (it will flick open but I try to avoid that) For that reason I have had it in a drawer and I plan to sell it or trade it off.
The handles are thick enough that I think someone could mount a pocket clip to it with shallow screws, however with the desgin of the handle it would be tricky. The nylon sheath that it came with is very nice since it can be carried both horizontal or vertical on a belt.

Good luck

Centurian,

I might be interested if you decide to sell or trade off your CQT...just let me know if you decide to do either one.
