just a question for some experienced people. I have a bowie I've been working on for about five years. I haven't been around much in the past four years to work on it. I now have the time and would like a few guided suggestions on what kind of guard and how best to put it on. I'd like to use this particular knife for throwing. but also as a camp knife. with a 10 inch blade and full tang, I'm sure I have the basics for what I want. the problem I think I'll run into is fixing the guard to withstand repetative throwing. but also provide some guard for my fingers when in use.
I'd like a heavy brass guard. and plan on a oak wood handle. untill I'm not worried about cracking the handle, stag would be nice but the throwing is an issue.

I think this is double posted,But you would be best with a through tang and threaded on pommel.Keep the guard simple and thick.Make the slot as snug a fit as your skill allows.Use JB weld to seal it (it will take more shock than solder).
