Putman/Grimsmo Aluminium PM2 scales: poor fit?

So I just received some aluminum PM2 scales and they're great except for on minor fit issue. Where they're milled out to accept the liners is a little too deep resulting in the scale being slightly proud of the liner on the inside. This causes the blade tang to rub against the scale as it opens and makes it super stiff opening. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what did you do to fix it?

Thanks!

Maybe you could use a shim to adjust the fit, maybe a little duct tape or aluminium foil between the liner and scale. My Putnam scales would rub on my para 2, but only when the clip was tip down. I did not shim mine because I put the original scales back on after I rit dyed them

Mine fit perfectly; get ahold of Allen and I'm sure he'll be happy to help you get it sorted.

I haven't been able to find anything about him outside of BladeHQ.

I'd rather not try to shim it as that would leave an ugly gap between the scales and liner. I'm thinking if I can get the right size washers for it and add an extra washer on each side of the blade then that might help. But then I might need to replace the stop pin with something wider as well...

are they anodized or are they raw aluminum? If they were raw you could simply sand the inside of the scales flush with the liners. If they are anodized then this would be rather ugly unless you had them anodized again or engine turned. Do you have pictures of the issues your having?

They are anodized, otherwise that's exactly what I'd do. Might wind up giving it a try anyway. I'm not sure pictures would help much, it's just the scales being a fraction of a millimeter too tight and rubbing on the blade.

Email me...I have his email address

Would be more than happy to replace them - just fill the out the contact page info on bladescales.com and we will work out the details.

Tool wear probably caused the issue,

Allen,

Allen,
Wow, thanks! I'll get right on that. I love it when a maker stands behind their product
