Putman scales on griptilian

Looking to slim down my grip a bit and came across the awt and putman scales. I’ve never had aluminum scales but love all my other G10 scales. So interested in some feedback on the putman scales.

Dunno about the Putnam but the AWT give the knife a different ergonomic and are heavier than the zytel of course

I also don't know about the Putman but I have a set of alum AWTs for my Griptilian. It is very robust, heavy and pretty much changes the entire "feel" of the knife.

The AWT scales are for looking, not for ergonomics. They are blocky and the edges make the knife uncomfortable in the hand for extended use. I had a pair but sold them quickly. Their built quality is good though.

Agreed to this completely, and they sure do look nice. Mine didn’t last long before I took them off .

Have you considered the Flytanium titanium scales? They’re really nice.

That’s what the Flytanium website shows, but there are still titanium versions floating around at retailers. I just checked and found three retailers with stock.

IMO the best Griptilian scales are made by Deathgripscales. Huge variety of materials and texture, Ryan will customize it any way you want. Price is comparable to Flytanium if not better

Yes, mine are the same size because I like it this way. However, if you trouble yourself to find him on IG and go over part of 1600+ models he made so far, you may like something slimmer as those:

Contact him through email. He doesn't check messages here or on IG. ryan_m_roberts@hotmail.com Super nice to deal with IME and very high quality. Just have to wait a bit since he makes them all to order.

He does make a slim version on the Grip scales too. I'm guessing they are closer to the factory G10 scale thickness, but not sure.
