How hard -easy would be to do this kind of modification???I want the custom bowie but am little short on cash now....and like the blade shape of Kabar heavy bowie.Hate plastic handles.....i was planning to strip the blade and convex it......Any ideas welcome!!!

Putting a coffin style wodden handle on Ka-Bar heavy bowie..............

I don't think that it would be terribly hard to do. I believe the heavy bowie has a stick tang, as opposed to a full profile tang. You can either drill two or three holes in a line in a block of wood for the tang to fit into or you can split a block and carve out a groove for the tang and pin the two parts together. Then shape the block.
I like the idea of a coffin handle on this blade. Will you put a guard on as well?
