res1cue recently held a giveaway and I was drawn as the winner. In return I promised to use the knife with no reservation and give thoughts on it. While I've only had it a few hours I have taken it out for a spin.
It's a medium Cold Steel Voyager Tanto. It's about as far from my normal buying habits could be but of course no slouch. AUS8, FRN and a great lock will certainly perform.
It came hair popping sharp and mirror polished which I certainly appreciate. I took it out into the field next to me and popped a few dandelions out by the roost. Always nice to see and feel your blade hitting dirt and rocks.
I then whittled on a small log for a while and while it's not a "slicer" it whittles like this well enough. I did notice that while I can fit 4 fingers in the scale cutout it is not comfortable on the pinky when bearing down so best to let the
little finger stay behind. While I didn't do many tasks yet, it still shaved hair no problem. When I go back to work Monday it will get the wax string, zip tie and cardboard torture/tests and I'll post some more.
Thanks again res1cue.
