I have been considering the Ka-Bar Becker Necker (BK11) for a little while now, and at this point there is only one thing keeping me from a purchase. From reading reviews all over the place (Ka-Bar website, here, random online stores, etc.), I have seen many reviews similar to this one (from the Ka-Bar website):

"i sent a email, with a complaint about the becker necker knife edge being dulled by making contact with inside of sheath.....it is the sheath design that is the problem. great knife, but sheath is poor." by anonymous

So I'm asking here, is there a problem with the sheath?

No, there really is a problem with the sheath. I purchased a Necker myself not too long ago. The sheath is fiberglass reinforced nylon I believe, which dulls the edge, even from just pulling out of the sheath once. To solve the problem I bought a kydex sheath on Ebay and now it's one of my favorite fixed blades. Buy the necker man, trust me. Just make sure you get a new sheath

You might have better luck in the Becker subforum. I think they fixed the problem with the sheaths. I have an 11 and 14, and don't really have a problem, but then I don't take a knife out of a sheath by running the edge along it.

^ Adding to this, simply put pressure on the direction of the spine when pulling, to avoid edge contact.
