I just got an old spyderco endura in G2 steel and I love this thing. It has great lockup, extra sharp, and really fits my hand nice. There are only two small complaints I have about it.
1. Plastic molded clip....idk I just dont like it
2. No Jimping!!!!
While I know this is why Spyderco has since change their designs from the earlier models I really want to upgrade mine a bit. Im just going to have to deal with the molded clip I dont really know what to do about that, but I would like to do something about that jimping. I have a dremel tool and some cutting wheels for it. I'd like to use the Dremel to cut some jimping into the thumbramp to get a little more traction on it. Has anyone done this? If you have can you post pictures and maybe a small description of how you did it? All help is appreciated. Thanks!

If you have small wheels for your dremel, try cutting some jimping into scraps of metal first for practice. I've used a angle grinder for putting jimping on fixed blades that I've made, you need a vice though.

An alternative would just be to stick skateboard tape to the thumb ramp.

I'm not sure who to quote, but I have read on this forum that if you have three of the little cut off wheel disks for your Dremel, you can use one down a bit on something else, and put it in between two full size disks as a spacer. Then you can get more consistant spacing on your homemade jimping. Good luck. Doug

I have used needle files for this but it is pretty hard to do you could try diamond needle files they might cut faster they have them at harbor freight.I my experience it`s better to screw up in slow motion so I always try things with hand tools first.Good luck I still have my endura 1 still a nice knife always will be.

Not filework related, but if you're going to get rid of the clip, spyderco used to offer a service where they ground down the plastic clip and install a metal one for you. Not sure if they've stopped it or not, but you can still ask them about it if you want.
