Putting refractory cement over old flux?

The floor of my forge is pretty well coated in a layer of flux which has locked in the firebrick I put there initially. Because of the angles of access it would be really hard for me to chisel the flux away enough that I can get the firebricks out. I've been wanting to paint the whole inside of my forge with some satanite; can I just pour the satanite on top of the flux layer, or would this cause problems?

Dunno if it would cause problems, but if you want to clean it out, just heat it up to welding temp and it'll get pretty soft, then scrap it out with a "t" (kinda like a small hoe) shaped tool... It'll be soft and sticky like stretchy taffy, so be careful!!

Look into mizzou or Hymoor instead of satanite. They are Flux resistant and much tougher. Even then, chip out the old Flux or you will be doing it again soon.

Also, look into fluxless welding. If you have propane, you can get by without flux

I do most of my welding fluxless, but occasionally something will delaminate a tiny bit at the end or something and I have to throw a little flux on it to patch it back up. Most of the flux on my forge floor is from when I was newer, and also from when I was working with a bunch of cable that I got my hands on. Also, satanite has the benefit of me already owning five pounds of it lol. But maybe I'll order some mizzou for the forge floor if I can pry the damn firebricks out.
