PUtting stuff in your Izula's handle?

So, I like the design of the HEST's handles, but overall the knife as a whole isn't for me. I was wondering what kind of stuff you could cram into an Izula's handle though.

I was thinking that at the very least, I could put a fire-steel in there and have it wrapped up inside the cord.

Anyone ever experiment with this?

I'd imagine with a basket weave you could fit the fire steal, a fishing hook wrapped in line and some tinder.

I did, but have recently switched to the Micarta scales (with nothing stored underneath). Here are some pictures to show what I did before, you'll have to cut down the ferro rod that comes with the kit to make it fit...

I also added the whistle/cord-end (that came with the kit) to the ends of the cord.

But like I said, I switched to the scales and love them!

I guess you could stretch a bike tube over the handle of the Izula and then stuff in the modified firesteel and maybe a tinder tab or 2 or a small fishing kit ? then do a funky para braid over the tubing ?

The reason why I switched is because I thought that storing things under the cord would be unpractical. It would be a pain to get it out if you needed it. I'd rather just carry all those items in a different location that was easier to access and put the scales on the knife to make it more comfortable to use.

Something to think about.

I've used my Izula much more frequently since I added the scales.

Could be done - I have a "ranger band" (innertube!) on the factory sheath and can tuck a few things in there without affecting the knife handle.

If anyone is wondering if you can store stuff under the Izula slabs like the HEST - not really.

A few fish hooks and some line would be possible. I don't really like the Izula scales, but I plan on getting the Izula 2, so I will put some in there.

there isnt much room between the 2 scales, so without some modding, it will be hard to fit much of anything in between them
