Puukko knife recommendations anyone?

I just saw the movie Sisu -- which I highly recommend -- and the protagonist -- a Finnish commando -- had a few nifty Puukko-style blades throughout the movie...I really like this super minimalist kind of knife as an EDC and also something just for camping, toolbox, box-cutting, whatever...I don't see many ones on the market I love. Not interested in anything tactical looking at all. Anyone have any recommendations? I like the look of these a lot...I always like the ask the fine folks here before making any big purchases :)

I own a Boker Solingen made "Bronco" that I've been taking on camping trips for a few years now. 4.5" CPM 3v full tang blade. Beautiful sturdy leather sheath. Around $200.

I owned the Sacha puukko in the smaller original size, great guy but it was too small for me.

I have no experience with that particular knife, but it lacks the nuance of design that true Finnish puukkot have, namely the flare (i.e., bulge) in the handle. There's no flare on the side profile, and I wonder if there is any when looking at it from the spine. That flare is vitally important on a guardless knife; it is the only thing that keeps your hand from sliding forward on the handle and onto the sharp edge.

The large knife used in the movie is called a leuku or lapinleuku. They come in a variety of sizes.

The knife you show isn't really a puukko either. Its sort of like a general bushcraft sort of knife....
A puukko can take several forms, none look like that......
Real pukkot from various makers old and new -

For some reason I wasn't getting notifications on this thread! Apologies for not responding...Still sort of figuring out this forum's system.

Those are some cool knives and thank you very much for the history/background! I support I really like the minimalist design of the Sacha so I may try and find something like that on here! Thank you!

If you want absolute minimalist design, try a Mora. There are plenty of the older models available for not a lot of money. The older ones with the laminated blade are very good at doing a lot of things. Mora knives also were / are made in a variety of sizes and shapes.

Not to hijack this thread but, would anyone have a source on purchasing the metal tip that attaches to the bottom of some of the sheaths?

If you can get a puuko by Todor Hristov i would. His work is excellent, but I have not seen him on this forum for a while. If you can get a Malanika leuku I would. Again an excellent value from a guy right here on the forum.

I have never really warmed up to the puukko style knife. They just don't fit what I do, where I do it. A few years back, I had a maker in UK do this little one for me, and it has proven handy.
