Hello Everyone,
I took a break between swords to make some working knives. This one is a take on the puukko, only a little bigger, and with a more curved and faceted handle.
One of my secret weapons lately has been curly oak stained with aqua fortis. This always has some purple/black and some gold, but no two trees ever look the same. It is always a great surprise.
The blade is 700 or so layers of subtle pattern welding with 1075 and w2 to create a hada. Then, there are 2 layers of 15N20 for accent.
There is also a beautiful hamon, frosty and cloudy. But, I can't get it to photograph well. In person, this is one of the most elegant and beautiful small blades I have ever made.
It is up for sale, too.
Leatherwork is something I am just getting into. This sheath is double stitched, so in the pictures the stitch groove is not visible. It is there, but since there are no gaps in stitching between holes, the grooves are hard to see.
Thanks for looking. Next up - Mind Dynasty goosequill dao with Scott Rodell.
