I'm interested to aquire a custom puuko knife. I have been looking around online and keep seeing the same knife makers overseas. Does anyone know of a good maker who makes Puuko knives here in the US? Probably the nicest one I saw to date online was from made by a knife maker who sells on another forum I belong to. He makes a beautiful puuko but he sells in a fashion that never allows me to actually get one. Would appreciate any info.

I'm working on some but can't post photos until I renew my membership. I love puukkos. Jake Spake makes some nice ones in the USA (spakeknife.com).

Well to be honest, I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for one, but want to get one with the highest quality build that I can muster up the funds for. I am reserved about ordering from overseas makers due to my complete lack of knowledge of conversion rates, shipping, etc...

I should point out that many of the pics I've seen had handles which may be too large for my hands. I would be interested to know about a more slender handle in the traditional shape.

Theo Eichorn is a US maker who specializes in puukkos. He recently came back after a three year stint in Finland learning about them.

I suggest you reconsider buying from abroad. I got all three of mine direct from the makers without any trouble.

Remember that these are custom knives you are inquiring about. They won't be cheap. Now they won't cost as much as an engraved, differentially tempered bowie with damascus fittings, but be prepared to spend at least the price of an upper end Bark River.
