This didn't take but, maybe, 10 min to soften and "flatten" on the grill. I use the word flatten loosely because the sheath did not get pancake flat. All credit for the how to came from this thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/743093-PVC-Machete-Sheath

Sorry for the crop. If you look closely at the left side of the pic, you can see the handle of the machete.

As the picture shows, this sheath is not straight and true in all aspects. It works however.
No need for any kind of snap or loop to hold the blade in. Because the sheath is cockeyed, the blade won't fall out.

I am going to dress up the sheath with a red rope wrap but I don't have the rope yet. In fact, I haven't even installed the para cord belt loop yet. Nor have I smoothed the sheath's edge like I want to.

Funny moment: When I finished the sheath, I tried the fit of the blade and had successfully removed the machete from the sheath once or twice without much difficulty. I put the machete in the sheath and took it to my brother for him to see. I handed him the machete in sheath and said: "Withdraw Excalibur." He tried and failed to remove the blade. He moved his hand on the sheath and tried again. Nada. I told him to change how he was holding it one more time and, Voila! Only after he had the blade out was I struck by the humor of me calling it Excalibur.
