PVD coated watch -- yay or nay?

Thinking of getting myself a PVD coated watch but not sure if its a good idea.

What say ye who've had 'em? Do they stand up to daily wear? I don't baby my watches.

I'd opt for DLC but those ones tend to be way out of my budget. I tend to spend a max of $500 on watches.

Do like that all-black look though...

If you don't baby your watches then I would suggest no.
I have a Steinhart DLC and it has held up fine to my normal office wear. It won't get banged around or scratched up that way, it just rubs against shirtsleeves, etc. My watch came with DLC bracelet but I took that off and put it away, I wear the watch on a ZULU strap.
If your normal watches don't pick up significant scratching then you might get away with wearing a DLC watch and just touch it up with a Sharpie pen. But if your watches get lots of scratches, then it would depend on how tolerant you are of scratches through the black. I've bought used watches from people that looked like they got drug behind a car, definitely don't get DLC if your watches look like that.
I have an all black Luminox, all black because it has a Resin case, so you might consider one of those. There are other manufacturers that do the black resin cases.
