I'm looking to finally replace my lost (stolen) Traser P5900, and was looking specifically at the Traser P5904 Trooper, similar in size to my old P5900 but with a full steel case, steel band (which I'll probably swap with a leather one), sapphire crystal, and full PVD coating.
This will be my daily wear, beater watch (so I can get this stupid Timex off my wrist). But I'm wondering how durable the PVD coating is. How resistant is it to scratching and chipping? They also offer the P5902 Ranger, basically the same watch but in bare steel. I prefer the black because it's much more low-key (I already have a shiny steel watch, a Luminox 822), but if it's going to look like crap in a couple months, It'd probably be best to stick with the bare steel because it'll hide scratches easier (and could even be polished/buffed out).
A plastic cased watch might suit me better as a "beater", but the SEAL style watches are too big for my wrist (40mm case is about as big as I can go), which is why I'm sticking to the P590X sized watches (36mm).
