This stuff is tough, really tough I attempted to take off just under 1/2 " with a belt grinder and 50 grit . After 1 1/2 hrs I think I cut .060 inches off and I wasn't babying it any other suggestions to cut it at home ? I've already spent the value of the glass in time pissing around with it.

I'm about to order one from usaknifemaker, they say a regular sander should take it right down where you need it to be. I will be needing to cut mine down some as well for the support screws so I would like to hear any tips for cutting it also.

If you use a ioo - 120 grit cork belt with silicon carbide it will grind easy. They do a great job of cleaning up the edges and giving a bit of a bull nose to the top and bottom. Frank

Dremel diamond coated wheel with lots of oil on the glass cut through it easily in a minute, damn I wish I'd done that yesterday.

I use a wet tile saw to cut mine once. Cuts like butter if you have access to a tile cutter.
Do not attempt to score and snap, I ruined one that way.
