My son wants to order a custom phone cover. Is it OK to have the Busse Combat logo put on it?
Just want to get the OK before hand.
Thanks

Technically speaking, if he's not making a profit on it, isn't it totally legal? It's like writing a band name on your backpack in high school.

I'm not a trademark attorney, so don't actually listen to anything I say.

Except that he is "ordering" the phone cover, so there is an assumption of a for-profit venture with the person actually making the cover.

Like you said, what do I know though? No trademark atty here.

Legal or not I want permission before I order it for him.
I have to say it looks awesome.

can we see?:)

I hate to ask, but what is a phone cover? I assume its for the new I phone or something. I ask because MY black berry has a belt case/ sheath, but no cover.

I can't pull a pic from the site.
It is a cell phone cover for a Samsung Magnet.
It will have the image in my sig on back with a nuke symbol on the upper corner.
I am only getting one for his personal use.

Very true, either way, it's cool that he asked. I'm sure Jerry will be along shortly to say "Have at it!".

Not sure how old your son is - but buy him a Busse knife instead you cheap Bastid, and he won't care about the phone :D

He is 12 and has a couple. He will most likely pick up another at Blade.

My wife is a trademark attorney.... I'll ask her what the rule is but it's probably up to the consent of the TM owner as long as the item will never be made for commerce.

Popcopy: Got a TM question for you?

Wife o’Popcopy: is this on a busse combat site?

Popcopy: Probably

Wife o’Popcopy: it sounds like they are asking permission to use the logo on the phone cover from the owners of the trademark

Popcopy: That's what I got out of it too...

Wife o’Popcopy: if the owner's of the logo gives their permission to use it, there shouldn't be a problem

Popcopy : well, way to go detective.. I said that and I didn't have to go to law school and then practice for 6yrs to figure that out. LOL

Wife o’Popcopy: basically they are getting a license
shut up
you didn't ask me anything hard
if they were just going to use it without permission I would have had a different answer

You might check with lunde. He has a website with knife photos that He might be okay with your using. He's a great guy, knows what a phone cover is, and lets people use his photos for wallpaper.

Sounds like you have a pretty cool son

And it's pretty darn nice of you to ask too, as I'm sure there are skins that can be purchased with almost anything you want put on them, regardless of the legalities.

I created a custom save the date magnet for my wedding a year ago, and I had to contact Lucas Films Ltd. to get permission to use the image. Their licensing department sent me a signed letter allowing limited use (production-wise) agreeing that no more than 200 would be made.
