Q on Gerber?

Hi marthinus,

The Gerber Suspension tool of which you speak of is virtually sold everywhere here in the States. Discount chains like Walmart, Target and several sporting goods stores usually sell them for about $30 US. Your SwissTool is vastly superior to the Gerber, but if your intent is to use it now and then the Gerber will serve it's purpose. It's a short and bulky tool made in China and features a crudely sharpened wharncliffe-style blade and a serrated sheepsfoot blade along with scissors, screwdrivers, an and bottle openers. There is also a wood saw, however, it is too short to be of any real use. You're better off using the saw on a Swiss Army knife.

Save your money and get a Leatherman Juice to back up your Supertool, or save even more and carry the Supertool alone.

Considering what you plan on using it for, it's an acceptable back-up multi-tool to your superior one.

It's not a bad little tool to have on hand. I got one a few weeks back and believe it would do well in an emergency;)

If you have a swisstool why bother with anything else? Nothing has impressed me in multitools like my Spirit. Just a plain old quality piece.
