The Gerber looks interesting, but some questions:
1) It has partly serrated blade in all the images I've seen, except the ones at http://www.equipped.org/. Is it available with blain edge at all?
2) Are the screws rounded like in Swisstool or with sharp corners like Supertool?
3) Does the Gerber tool adapter fith the MP 800?

About the Victorinox Swisstools... I just heard that they had stopped rounding of the smallest screwdriver

, but not the others.

Also the locking mechanism has been strenghtened as well as the wire cutter has been made better. The straight part of the wire cutter is 40 HRC, but there is now a harder 60 HRC cutter (ala Leatherman, I think) for hooks and such. These modifications are old (made during the first production year), but I had not known about them. The lack of rounding of the smallest screwdriver as well as the new hard wire cutter should be visible changes. Do your Swisstools have these? BTW, did you know that the Swisstool is also available as all black NATO-model too...

I don't know about any of that....but I do know that the swisstool X is out. It has scissors instead of the serrated blade. They also have a rescue model out with a seatbelt cutter. The swisstool is my favorite out of the current crop.

What is this existential quandry all about anyway?

Yeah, I know about the X and the RS... the rumour has it that they are also coming out with a tool that has cork screw in it (no, I don't know what tools will be sacrified...) Also some rumours say that they are still thinking about a smaller tool also. Smaller might be a welcome thing, but... they should first stop rounding all the screw drivers

So, anybody have the Gerber?

1) I can't answer this one for you. I have never seen a plain-blade Legend advertised anywhere, but there are a few pictures around the web which suggest one might exist. Gerber's web site does not list multiple part numbers for the Legend...

2) The screws on the Legend are nicely rounded so as not to catch on things.

3)The tool adapter kit was designed for the earlier MultiPliers, but it also works just fine with the Legend (MP800). The only hassle is that the sheath provided with the tool kit is not large enough for the Legend. Gerber has promised that a new sheath, designed to fit the Legend and the tool kit, will be available in the next few months. In the meantime, I carry my Legend in its original pouch and stow the toolkit in a pocket. The little rubber "centipede" doesn't take up much room.

The images I linked to (above there) are of preproduction version... I think. It's too bad if there is only the partly serrated version now available.

... and slip easily of the screws too

Not good.

Well that's the only good news (althought about the sheath - but that's not that important to me now)... but not enough. The points 1 and 2 were critical and both failed imo. I think I'm still staying with Supertool.
