What year did our beloved Camillus
begin etching the tang, instead of a stamp?
and I've inherited a Rough Cut Stockman
what is the general rundown on this product?
Thanks

Camillus started etching the tang with the brand approximately 3 or 4 years before the company closed.
I saw this being done in the packing room and inquired about this new operation. Blades could be made that could be used in any brand. Prior to this, blades were blanked and the tangs were stamped with a brand name.

Another question for Camco

I have just acquired a model 98 which clearly has the blades from the MIL-K. The cap lifter on this one has the extra piece on it which I understand fitted the military issue rifle. Am I right in thinking that my knife is late 1960's or early 70's?

Thanks

Does the model #98 that you have look like a Swiss Army knife with red handles?

Hi

Yes, red with can opener, cap lifter, large blade, small blade. Tang stamp is Camillus (single full width underline), New York, USA. Asymetric bow tie shield.
